The Four Corners of Nevada

Each Corner of the Chapel points to the relative "corners" of the great State of Nevada.

From the corridor, the entry is framed in the twisted and gnarled wisdom of the ancient Bristlecone pines with the Chapel's namesake bluebird featured in the transom.

Upon entry, the visitor experiences the varied natural landscape of Nevada.

Starting with the serene aspens of the Ruby Mountains representing the Northeast...

...we move to the open skies and yucca of our beautiful Red Rock mountains in the Southwest.

From there we see the granite and Douglas firs of Lake Tahoe in the west.

Finally, we see the national tufa formation of Pyramid Lake and the rolling basin and range of our Northwest.

The intent of the design is to not only provide a panorama of our beautiful state, but to center the visitor in the midst of it all. While this Chapel will serve well as a meeting place for general services and worship of the creator of this beauty, it must also serve in providing a sanctuary of solitude during quiet prayers for a passing hero. This design respectfully addresses this balance.

NVHead2Toe

What a great project! St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City and the Core Contemporary Gallery in Las Vegas came together to host a unique art event through The Nevada Art Council's Basin to Range Exchange program called NVHead2Toe.

Fifteen artists from Northern Nevada and fifteen artists from the Las Vegas area were paired to produce collaborative artworks. The catch was that neither artist could see the other's work. We were given half of a canvas to work with and some match lines to meet. One artist was to do the "head" and the other to do the "toes". I was very happy to be selected to participate in such a unique idea. The curiosity about what lay below the cover on the other side of the canvas was intense. What colors? What subject matter? The finished product is sure to be a juxtaposition of spontaneous imagery. How could the entire piece not explode with artistic tension and contrast?

The finished products will be shown at the St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City from Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15. Then the pieces are moved to Core Contemporary Gallery in Las Vegas and shown from January 23 to February 29, with a reception on Saturday January 25.

Run Away Mannequins in Carson city

This was for the Run Away Mannequins in Carson city.

The Runway Mannequins were displayed at the Jazz & Beyond Opening Event at the Bliss Mansion on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018. Before and after that, many of them were displayed at the Brewery Arts Center and various other locations around Carson City.
