Corrie Zam Northan was selected to create one of the Doors to Recovery to that will be featured in Downtown Reno this summer. The doors will be auctioned off at the Nevada Museum of Art to raise money for addiction recovery. This year's theme is "Seed of Hope."
The vision of Doors To Recovery is that every man, woman, and child struggling with addiction will have access to the best, most effective means to achieve and maintain successful recovery and a productive life for themselves and their families, regardless of their ability to pay. One of my favorite things about stained glass is seeing how different light shines through and creates an always-evolving art piece. I like to look at my life experiences in the same way. This year was filled with many exciting adventures and experiences, each creating a different level of light, each reflecting off of me in a beautiful way.
I hope that as you reflect on your year, you're able to bend and move to allow for the most radiant light to shine through! "I cant tell you how enjoyable this year has been... The group of artists are amazing... gathering on Tuesday to all paint together. Most own their own businesses so Tuesday seems to work well for all...Donating their time for the community. With so much pride and gifts given... somehow anything needed shows up on my porch the next day, no questions asked...LOVE THIS PLACE!!" --Corrie
Artists and local business owners in the quaint little town of Virginia City are all volunteering their talents to get this project moving. A mural of this size takes time and weather doesn't always cooperate with our artistic groove!
Wanted to share the latest at Firehorse!
Corrie has been very busy taking extra classes and taking on new, intense projects. She recently completed the class of Traditional Stained Glass painting. No time to test out the new skills, though, as now it's onto The Mural Project. Corrie has joined with six local artists to create a mural on a huge local wall. Here's a sneak peek at what's coming to a wall in Virginia City! |
